What is Canola Oil?

Canola oil is a vegetable oil derived from rapeseed. It is great for frying and sautéing, as it has a high smoke point and won’t alter the flavor of your food. For another Minute® Rice recipe that uses canola oil, check out our Fast Fried Rice recipe.

How to Shred Cabbage

You can buy pre-packaged shredded cabbage, but if you want value for your money, try shredding it yourself at home. You’ll want to start by rinsing your cabbage and then placing it onto a chopping board. From there, you can use a knife to slice the cabbage into shreds. Alternatively, if you own a mandolin cutter or a vegetable peeler, you can also use them to shred your cabbage.

Paprika Flavor

Paprika is used as a seasoning in a wide variety of different recipes, from rice bowls all the way to hummus, spice blends and rubs. Different varieties of paprika have different tastes, with some being milder, and others being spicier or smoky. Paprika’s distinct hue can be used to give dishes a naturally bright color. Keep a few different varieties of paprika on hand so you can experiment with them.

What is the Difference Between Garlic and Garlic Powder?

Chopped garlic is an excellent way of adding a burst of flavor to many savory dishes. Powdered garlic, on the other hand, is most commonly used for seasonings and sauces as it distributes the flavor well without adding moisture to the dish. Garlic powder is commonly used in dishes all over the world, as in this Spanish Chicken and Rice dish.
