  • 1 onion, finely chopped

Instructions

  • Don’t stress over what to make for dinner tonight. Try these simple and delicious Stuffed Cabbage Rolls and make something that the whole family will love!

    Step 1

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.

    Step 2

  • Place cabbage leaves in a large microwavable bowl. Add 2 tablespoons water and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Microwave on HIGH for 4-5 minutes, or until leaves are softened but not fully cooked. Set aside.

    Step 3

  • In a large bowl beat egg with remaining water. Add beef, rice, onions, garlic, salt and pepper. Do not overmix or stuffing will become firm after cooking.

    Step 4

  • Spoon 1/2 cup of the meat mixture onto the center of each cabbage leaf. Fold the sides and end of the leaf over the filling and roll up tightly.

    Step 5

  • Transfer each roll, seam-side down, to an 11×7-inch baking dish. Top with pasta sauce. Cover with foil.

    Step 6

  • Bake for 45 minutes, or until meat is cooked through and cabbage is tender. Let stand, covered, for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley.

    Recipe Tips

If you prefer, substitute ground pork, turkey, chicken or meatless ground for the ground beef.

To remove individual cabbage leaves without tearing, begin by removing core from cabbage head. Then, wrap whole cabbage in plastic. Microwave for 5 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes, then remove plastic and separate leaves.

For easier rolling, cut out a piece of the thick rib at the base of the cabbage leaf after steaming.
