Prepare and Conquer

Bring the taste of Asia to your kitchen — even when you’re short on time! This recipe may take a little organization but with a plan, this rice salad can be assembled in a flash.

Approach this recipe in 2 steps. First, cook the rice and prep the vegetables. Then, assemble. The first part requires you to simmer the brown rice in a mix of mandarin orange juice and water. While the rice is cooking, prepare the dressing, onions, water chestnuts and celery.

After the rice has finished cooking, it will need to cool so that this rice dish can be served chilled. Keep it in the fridge for 30 minutes or overnight. Assemble all the ingredients just before you head out the door.

Zesty Homemade Dressing

A zesty homemade dressing has the power to make or break the flavor of any rice bowl or rice salad. If you have extra time, take a few minutes to prepare your own sesame ginger dressing. Once you get the hang of it, you can make extra to have on hand for your next rice salad, chicken sandwich or shrimp dish. Next time, try some on this Sesame Ginger Salmon Salad.

Simply combine olive oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, a bit of sweetener (we like honey, maple syrup or agave nectar), garlic and ginger. With just 6 ingredients, you can make a delicious dressing to save in your fridge for a variety of other meals.

Using Minute® Rice Ready to Serve or Instant varieties, you can prepare all kinds of meal options that are both quick and delicious!
