Ingredients

  • 2 cups Minute® Jasmine Rice
  • 2 Tbsp neutral oil, such as canola or sunflower oil
  • 2 small shallots, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 Tbsp sambal oelek (chile paste)
  • 8 oz ground chicken
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 2 Tbsp kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • ½ cup bean sprouts
  • ¼ cup scallions, sliced
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  • You don’t have to know how to pronounce it to enjoy the flavors of Nasi Goreng, a typical Indonesian-style fried rice dish. Made with fluffy Minute® Instant Jasmine Rice, ground chicken, an assortment of seasonings and diced vegetables, it makes a satisfying and quick dinner in just 30 minutes.

    Step 1

  • Prepare Minute® Jasmine Rice according to package directions.  Spread the rice out on a pan to cool completely.

    Step 2

  • Heat oil in a large wok or skillet over medium high heat. Add the shallots, garlic and sambal oelek to the pan and cook, stirring for 1 minute. Take care not to burn.

    Step 3

  • Add the chicken and carrots to the pan and stir well to combine. Cook for 4 minutes or until chicken begins to brown.

    Step 4

  • Add the cooled rice to the pan along with the kecap manis and soy sauce and mix gently to combine. Continue to cook until rice is heated through.

    Step 5

  • Serve garnished with bean sprouts, scallions and cilantro.

    Recipe tip:

    Sambal oelek (a chile paste) and kecap manis (a sweet soy sauce) are available at most Asian markets.
