  • 1 Minute® Brown Rice & Quinoa Cup
  • ¼ cup canned black beans, drained
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp ground cumin powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 small red bell pepper, chopped
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted

    Step 1

  • Heat rice according to package directions.

    Step 2

  • Heat black beans in the microwave for 1 minute. Using the back of a fork, mash up the black beans until they turn into a paste-like consistency and set both rice and beans aside to cool.

  • Meanwhile, in a medium-sized mixing bowl, beat one egg. To the same bowl, add the cumin, paprika, oregano, shallot, garlic, bell pepper and breadcrumbs. Fold in the black beans and rice and mix until well blended.

  • Heat a medium sauté pan or cast-iron skillet on medium-high heat and add olive oil.  Carefully add the burger patties and cook for about 3-5 minutes on each side until slightly browned and warm throughout.

  • Place the cooked patties on toasted burger buns.
