  • 1 cup Minute® Yellow Rice Cups
  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley, chives, and thyme)
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Toasted breadcrumbs (for coating)


  • These Herb Cheese Balls are ready in only six minutes or less and are the perfect appetizer for all your hungry guests!

    Step 1

  • Prepare rice according to package directions. Allow rice to cool. 

    Step 2

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cooled rice, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, herbs, lemon zest, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are combined completely. 

    Step 3

  • Shape the mixture into a ball using your hands. 

    Step 4

  • On a plate, spread out a layer of toasted breadcrumbs for coating. Roll the cheese ball in the coating until it’s evenly covered. 

    Step 5

  • Place the coated cheese ball on a plate or tray and cover it with plastic wrap. Refrigerate the cheese ball for at least 1 hour, or until it’s firm and chilled.  

    Recipe Tip

    Sesame seeds, chopped fresh herbs, chopped nuts can also be used as coatings.
