Quick and Hearty Classic

This classic, Louisiana-inspired Easy Red Beans and Rice dish is perfect for a quick meal. Made with ingredients you can keep on hand, you’ll be ready to make it anytime the craving for southern cooking hits. It’s easy to put together with Minute® Instant White Rice, smoked turkey sausage, kidney beans, tomatoes, green chilies, chili powder and, of course, melty cheese! In under 30 minutes, you’ll have a mouth-watering, chili-like meal that is perfect to feed a crowd.

Your choice of sausage is a defining factor in this recipe. While we recommend turkey, any smoked sausage you like will do, whether it be pork, andouille or your favorite vegetarian option. A smoked sausage with more spices and other ingredients will add even more flavor to this dish.

To complete this southern-style menu, remember that this recipe goes great with a slice of cornbread or even some Quinoa and Sausage Breakfast Muffins or an Egg Fried Brown Rice stir-fry!

Picky Eaters

For extra crunch, take a handful of your favorite corn chips and crush them over the top of your plate for a DIY crispy touch. If you’ve got picky eaters at home, buy scoop-shaped chips and offer them in lieu of a spoon! Kids (and adults!) will have fun scooping up these hearty, tasty red beans and rice.
